Piney Branch Pool Frequently Asked Questions:

Our hours are:
Monday - Thursday: 6:30am - 9:30am; 1:00pm - 9:00pm

Friday: 6:30 am - 9:30am; 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Question: Will my child be allowed in the deep end?

Answer: Children will be asked to take a swim test if they want to go into the deep end. If they pass the test, the lifeguards will record the child’s name and they will be allowed in the deep end, which has two waterslides!

Question: Do I have to go in the water with my child?

Answer: If your child passes the swim test, you do not have to go into the water with your child. You can watch from the bleachers on the pool deck.

Question: Can my swim team or club rent lanes for private use?

Answer: Answer: Yes! Contact Joyce Seamens at 301-565-0190 or e-mail JoyceS@acsgw.org

Question: How old do you have to be to swim without an adult at the pool?

Answer:  High school students can swim without an adult if they present a school ID.

Question: Are there locker rooms?

Answer: Yes! There are hot showers, bathrooms, hair dryers, and small and large lockers (bring your own combination lock) in the men’s and women’s locker rooms.

Question: Are kickboards and noodles allowed in the pool?

Answer: Yes! Swimming aids are allowed, as long as the pool is not too crowded. The lifeguards reserve the right to clear the pool of noodles, etc, if the pool gets too crowded.

Question: How shallow is the shallow end?

Answer: The shallow end is over three feet, so very small children will need an adult in the pool with them.

Question: Can my child have a party at the pool?

Answer: Yes, we encourage the use of the pool for celebrations, such as birthday parties. Since no food or drinks are allowed in the pool area, we recommend you schedule a room at the Takoma Park Community Center for the refreshment portion of your party. You can have your party at the pool during any of our drop-in swimming hours. Contact Joyce Seamens at 301-565-0190 or e-mail JoyceS@acsgw.org to learn more about having a pool party.
