Thank you everyone for a very successful Thanksgiving -- Holiday Giving
2011. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (November 21 -22) we
were able to serve 1,010 familes, each which included one
frozen turkey and accompanying food basket. To everyone and
every organization involved, you made a definite difference.
That is the good news. The bad news, of course, is that
thousands of families in Takoma Park/Silver Spring are in
constant need of healthy, nutritious food for themselves and
their children. The current economy is having a devastating
impact on the poor, the needy, the homeless of our communities
-- and their ranks are growing.
Adventist Community
Services of Greater Washington is asking for your help
thoughout the entire year to provide the food that the
families in our communities need to feed themselves. Since
Adventist Community Services has the ability, through the
Maryland Food Bank and Capital Area Food Bank, to purchase
food at a much reduced cost, we need monetary donations as
well as donations of non-perishable food items.
Hunger
is a constant. Your continual donations are needed throughout
the year. Again, thank you all.
Here is how you can help:
·
Donate
non-perishable food items to the food
bank at Adventist Community Services,
501 Sligo Avenue in
Silver Spring. Most needed items are canned
vegetables and fruits, pie filling, beans, rice, soups, and
stuffing mix.
·
Make a
monetary donation to help purchase
other items to supplement donated food. Each $25
that you donate will feed one family, so please give
generously. Checks can be made out to ACS and sent to
ACS Food Drive,
501 Sligo Avenue, Silver
Spring, Maryland, 20910.
You can also donate online by clicking this donation button.
All donations are tax deductible.
